Spring Snow in London

Yesterday (6 April 2008) morning I was woken up by my flatmate knocking on the door. As it was still early, I don't even care that she knock on the door. After 2 times knocking, she start shouting... "IT'S SNOWING!!!!" I fly out from my bed and look outside.... It was the most surprising and exciting views that I never expected that it would be in front of my eyes, especially in London and it's Spring already.

The first thing I did was to grab the batteries for my camera which was still charging since previous night and snapped the first photo of the snow... it was 8.18am.

Look at that... It's a scene which I haven't seen for 1 year... I thought London would never snow as previous forecasts all disappointed me. I never expect the forecast this time is accurate.

Anyway, after taking these photos, I just wear my jacket and get my hat with gloves then rush out for more photos and snow... This are the flats just behind where I live.
And the first thing in my mind was going to Streatham Common, a big grass field which is very nice for activities. 1 of the parks in London.

I made the first snowman this year. Small one without face whatsoever.

Then this is the second snowman I made, with everything including a pipe for him.
The following photo is a 360 degree view around the field from the centre of the field. You can print it and stick 2 end together. LOL~~ Click to enlarge to see clearly, you can even see my second snowman in this picture.
I went back soon after taking that picture to have breakfast as it was really freezing already and the snow already turn from big flakes to small tiny bits. But the main reason is because I need to get back to prepare myself to go out for the Olympic Torch Relay.

Along the way to Brixton, I took this picture on the bus.
Olympic Torch Relay will be coming up soon. It comes with protests photos as well. Watch out.

Dragon Boat Race

It was a lovely Sunday (2-Sept-07) morning and my aunt was suggesting the previous night that we go to the dragon boat race held at Hanningfield Reservoir nearby. It is an event for the 50th anniversary celebration of Essex & Suffolk Water. Before going out, aunt's friend called to ask for extra hand for her team as their drummer was injured and was unable to attend. Aunt suggested me....

I was shocked and surprised that me, a spectator, suddenly turn into a participant!! So we head out. It was amazing seeing so many people at the lakeside waiting for the event to start off. The main control tent of the event

There were actually 16 teams participating but one of them pulled out... or chickened out? So this is aunt's friend, Caroline, who's very friendly. Our team members were all wearing viking horns.
And this is our team... named "Hidden Tiger Crouching Dragon Boat" What do you think about that name? cool? Soon it's our turn... and there we are listening to the briefing and preparing ourselves. That white t-shirt guy with 2 hands stretching is me. I'm standing in front as I'm their drummer.. We compete against the green shirt guys who were beside us.
So we went off... and this is the first round...
Crossing the finishing line, just a close win, with our time nearly at the bottom of the chart. LOL~~
This were other teams competing...
This is the second round for our team and we had a great win over the same team in first round... but sadly our time only improved 0.21 seconds... we had fun though.
Then it's time to have lunch and I had this. Chinese stir fry with sweet & sour chicken, costing £4.50. The other choices are with vegetables or curry. There were other food around as well. After that, it was our final round but sadly we failed badly as we even lose to the previous team which we won twice.
So this is the winning trophy. What do you think? I think they were stunning.
This is the time chart in the end of the qualifying rounds. The fastest 4 teams compete in the final round. Here is the video of the final round.

In the end, the winning team is "Super Heroes"!! How great were their costumes...
This is the announcer's car. He had been in Dragon Boat events for many years, so his car's number... DRA66ON = DRAGON. This registered number must had cost him a bomb.
For more official photos, go to www.dragonboatevents.com and click for Events > September - Oct > Sunday 2nd September - Billericay, Essex - camera icon and look at the photos. You can spot me in 2 of the photos. Sorry that I can't provide the direct link of the photo page as the page is in Flash format.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

What does this song remind of you...? Familiar with this song??

For me, it's been quite a long time since I heard and sing this song. Thanks to LydiaBubla who inspired me with this song in her post. A funny and interesting one.

So I started to browse in Imeem and get a few version of it which I quite like it.

This is the original English version and the following is the mandarin version which I also sang during my young age...

This one is one of the re-sing version which I found out quite nice as well.

Nice? Either yes or no, you MUST listen to this following version!!!!

How was it? This is the one LydiaBubla attached in her post... I laughed for quite a while after listening though. (Pardon me, I'm not racist, just feel funny)

Which one do you think is the best one?

My House

Ever thought of how the house I live now looks like?

Well, not very big, not small for a bachelor, studio type, super huge front door, tiny windows.

This is my house, single storey with an attic, drive in studio type, everything under one roof. Cool during summer, cold during winter. The plants beside the main door provide fresh air to me when I walk out the door.

Let me introduce the interior. I beg your pardon for the messiness in the house as I just finished a project yesterday.
This is my working desk. I got everything I needed on the desk, under the desk and beside the desk.
These are my refrigerators. I got food and drinks stored inside. I got some wine on top there to serve my customers and friends when visiting.
So here are my other supplies of drinks, I got milk, still water, and some lemonade. Some fruits back there as well. The black thing down right is the wine freezer. Got some wine inside though.

So now, let me introduce my transportation, i got a car and a bike. cool eh?
It's a roadster, model: lawnmower. Single seater with big wide rear wheels, sporty. Easy to drive, easy to park, easy to maintain. It has a function of cutting grass in big lawns fast.
This is my bike. Sporty yellow, 65mph top speed, 2-stroke engine, one speed, front & rear disc breaks. Uses only petrol with 2-stroke oil mixture, and engine coolant.

Finally, you people might be wondering where do I sleep. Now I'm gonna introduce my room. My room of course is on the attic.
That's my house. You are welcome to visit at any time when I'm in. Please contact me before coming to visit yea.

*aiya, just my uncle's garage la...*

What's Your Blog Rated??

Well as I look through some blogs, I found out this interesting rating page from IcyQueenGoddess's blog. I had a try on the page but I decided not to copy the html codes directly from the page. I rather cut the page down and paste it here as the words below the ratings are the ones which are interesting. Take a look.

My own blog.
Click to enlarge... so mine is rated G, but there's something down there in red...

Jeannie's Blog
So Jean's is around the same as mine...

Chloe's Blog
Hmmm... some colour there... PG-13 as the word "Rape" appeared 5 times...

The following 3 blogs are rated PG though...
Angel's Blog
It's funny that the word "bomb" could be rated as well....

Clement's Blog

Ellen's Blog

So the next 2 are the awards for the best rated blog and worst rated blog...

Best rated blog
Reason: No bad words found in the page
Sabrina

Gloria

Worst rated blog - Berberboo

Reason: The word "bitch" appeared for 9 times... well... her blog's name is "My Life is A Bitch"... what to do.... -.-"

Anyway, this is just for fun... and the ratings are not accurate at all.. Don't have to take it seriously though...

Trip to South Shields & Newcastle

6/6, I went to South Shields with Nic, Jeannie and Felicia to see Felicia's workplace for her summer placement. We took bus to go and the journey took us around nearly an hour. South Shields is basically a small town only so nothing special about it.
This is taken from the Metro Station. It's the High Street of South Shields, well, a small part of South Shields of course. We basically just walk around that area for a while then we decided to leave for Newcastle already.

We reached Newcastle at around 11.45a.m. and start walking in the shopping complex. The girls chose some souvenir to be brought back next week when going back home, then we head to China Town and back to that shop where we always go which named "天天" in Mandarin, and I think it's call "China Express" in English... forgotten... anyway the food there is nice. We had a great meal and four of us were full... ridiculously full... We walk around that area and took photo with the China Town gate which we never bother to care and realize there's an old wall behind that area...
The grey building behind the China Town gate is the Stadium for Newcastle Football Club at St. James Park.
So after a short walk, we decided to walk somewhere else. We walked to the Life Centre, which, again, I never realize it was there. I only know there's such building there when Nic told me about it.
Too bad it was closed already at that time so we didn't manage to get into it to see some exhibition. We then decided to do something which me and Jean thought for a long time but haven't got chance. Go on the Metro ride on the yellow line for a round.
Click the map to enlarge. the red arrows shows where we went for a round. We take the Metro from South Shields to Newcastle in the morning, then we took from Central Station for a round. The journey took us nearly an hour. Note that we live near University Station. 6/6 is Wednesday, and that day Metro has Wednesday Saver, so we bought it and nearly maximise the value of the ticket by going nearly all stations... LOL~~ we drop off at Monument Station and head straight back home after that.

Basically that's my day at 6/6, just to share my life though. Updates on Trip to Durham coming soon.
